I'm super excited to share with all of our readers, issue number 150 of the Artificial Intelligence / Internet of Things Newsletter! We've got another great list of hand-picked articles that we curated by me that involve all of the latest and greatest stories from this exciting area of technology.
First, just a quick note that I have published my latest Applied AI Podcast. I had the pleasure of speaking with Sabina Stanescu on Building Better Products Using Responsible AI and MLOps. This is one interview that you will NOT want to miss. Sabina is an expert in the areas of Data Science / ML and Product Management and she shares some very interesting perspectives on how AI is being applied to business problems - including the Internet of Things!
Also, keeping with the Artificial Intelligence theme, the Applied AI meetup group is meeting this Thursday, June 3rd. We will be talking about Prototyping Artificial Intelligence Models.
Finally, please join me this Thursday as I speak about AIoT at the MN Tech 2021. The topic of my presentation is What is the AIoT and Why Your Business Won't Survive Without It. Be sure to register today to access all the sessions at the conference!
I hope you enjoy this issue and continue to join me in this journey of exploring and leveraging the power of the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence. Please contact me if you have any questions and if there are ways in which I can help your organization succeed when it comes to implementing this technology. I love to talk with people and learn free of charge!
AIoT and Intelligence on the Edge
Recently, one of the biggest convergences is between the fields of AI/ML and IoT, which enables the rise of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT). AIoT combines data collected by sensors and other devices with the intelligence offered by AI/ML to enable real-time, intelligence on the edge. By converging AI/ML and IoT capabilities, AIoT solves two problems by merging them together into one solution.
New Jersey Veteran Receives New 'Smart Home' From 9/11 Charity
A 9/11 charity left a New Jersey veteran "absolutely speechless" when it gifted him a home Thursday. Marine Sgt. Aaron Alonso stepped on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in 2014, losing his legs but beating the "sub-1%" chance he had of surviving at all. When he did get home, life was never going to be the same.

Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) and the Role It Plays in Banking
Imagine walking into your office block and – without having to rummage through your pockets for your access fob – the door just swishes open. As you step through it, a friendly voice welcomes you by name. Then, as you’re walking towards your desk, the lights switch-on with every step you take. And, right before you take your coat off, a heater starts to circulate warm air around your desk.

How Blockchain Technology Can Benefit the Internet of Things
Blockchain technology has already gone through a peak of hype, then a period of disillusionment, but it may be on an upward climb again. While the roller-coaster ride of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin has also cast aspersions on blockchain technology –and it has—recent events such as COVID-19 and its impact on the connected economy have created new imperatives for digitizing transactions.
